Embrace The Documentary:

Free Screening at The Yoga Den

Join us at The Yoga Den on November 30th at 7pm for a FREE screening of "Embrace The Documentary". We've joined forces with Registered Dietician, Amy MacDonald to bring a safe and empowering event to our community. We dream of a world where everyBODY can feel free in the skin they've been given. We've chosen to screen this film because it aligns with our intentions. Read more about the film below and we hope to see you there!

"The culture of body loathing and body shaming had reached epic proportions worldwide.

Lose weight, reduce wrinkles, fight cellulite; we’re constantly told to fight a battle to be someone other than who we are. Women and girls are constantly lead to believe they’re not as good as they should be. And why? Because every day they feel they’re being judged on their appearance and how far away it is from an unachievable ideal.

At the Body Image Movement, we’re on a quest to redefine and rewrite the ideals of beauty. Our job is to harness and facilitate positive body image activism by encouraging women to be more accepting of who they are, to use positive language regarding their bodies and others, and to prioritize health before beauty. Our goal is to reach as many women as possible around the world and speak to them about how we can learn to fully embrace and love our bodies.

We say no to…

Excessive “Photoshopping” of body images in the media

Being programmed by the media and corporations into accepting unrealistic body images

Prescribing to the notion that being a certain weight determines whether you’re healthy

Sexualisation of girls in the media and modern culture

The objectification of women

Society and advertising preying on women’s insecurities

To get the word out there, Taryn Brumfitt, Founder of the Body Image Movement is filming Embrace the documentary. Embrace uncovers why poor body image has become a global epidemic and what women everywhere can do to have a brighter future.

A funny, touching, at times gut wrenching but above all, life changing documentary, the heart of Embrace is Taryn’s story. How she went from a body hater to a body lover. From being devastated by her perceived ugliness to proudly posing nude for the whole world to see."

Exert from

Recommended for ages 10 and up. There is some tasteful/non sexual nudity. But if you're 10 year old has no body image insecurities we wouldn't recommend it yet - instead we recommend it for those who are asking questions/struggling or who are a bit older.
